Welcome to Kaitlyn Ruth Photography!
Senior photography sessions are a great way to celebrate the end of your high school journey and capture memories that will last a lifetime. It's important to choose the right outfits for your session to make sure you feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera.
Here are my top five tips to help you choose the perfect outfits for your senior photography session:
1. Show off your personal style
Your senior photography session is all about you, so it's important to choose outfits that showcase your personal style. Think about the outfits you feel most confident and comfortable in, and choose pieces that make you feel amazing. If you love bold colors, choose an outfit that reflects that. If you prefer more understated styles, choose something classic and timeless. Remember, your senior photos should be a reflection of who you are, so don't be afraid to show off your personality!

2. Bright colors and textures--avoid patterns
I always recommend seniors bring brighter colors for their session, and avoid large patterns on their shirts and dresses. We want the focus to be on you, not on the stripes on your shirt!
Textures can add depth and interest to your senior photos, so don't be afraid to mix and match textures in your outfits. Pairing a soft, flowy blouse with a chunky sweater, for example, can create a nice contrast in your outfit. You can also add texture with accessories, like a patterned hat or a statement necklace. When choosing textures, try to keep one item the center of attention - if you have a lot of texture in one piece, keep the other pieces more simple.
3. Bring a variety of options
I recommend one more formal outfit (dress, skirt, blouse, etc.) and one more casual outfit (jeans and a top, shorts, etc.). The variety helps us match the outfit to the perfect location and also helps you have a great variety in your photos.
I recommend approximately three outfits per two-hour senior session. Any more than that, and we can spend too much time changing and not enough time photographing.

4. Don't forget the details
The little details can make a big difference in your senior photos. Pay attention to things like accessories, shoes, and hairstyles when planning your outfits. Choose accessories that complement your outfits, like a statement necklace or a pair of earrings that bring out the color of your eyes. Make sure your shoes are comfortable and match the style of your outfit.
Some seniors choose to visit a hair and makeup artist before their senior session to get a professional's help with hair and makeup. Makeup artists know what makeup works best for the camera, and can help you achieve the look you're going for! I have a few local hair and makeup artists that I recommend working with--if you need one, just ask!

5. Let your photographer help!
Don't be afraid to call/text/email to let me help you choose outfits that will look great in photos. I have experience in selecting outfits that will photograph well and can offer suggestions for colors, styles, and textures that will work well with the location and lighting. By working together, we'll be able to create stunning senior photos that you'll be proud to display for years to come. Remember, I want you to look your best, so don't hesitate to ask for help! I also have a Pinterest Board with looks that I love for each style, and there are many links to buy the pieces!

Your senior photography session is a special occasion that you'll remember for years to come. By taking the time to carefully choose your outfits, you can ensure that your senior photos turn out beautifully.
